Financial Transparency Policy
The Accountability Journalism Institute is committed to transparency in every financial aspect of our organization.
An acceptance of financial support does not equal an endorsement of any donor or foundation’s views or services.
We accept gifts, grants and sponsorships from individuals, organizations and foundations to fund our general operations as well as specific topics and projects. We will only accept grants from anonymous sources if they are unrestricted. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates as a public charity, we do not pay certain taxes. We may receive funds from standard government programs offered to nonprofits or similar businesses.
Our news judgments are made independently and are never based on any influence from donors or any source of revenue. We will never give supporters the rights to assign, review or edit content.
We make public all revenue sources and donors who give $500 or more per year. As a journalistic organization, we will not accept donations from political parties, elected officials or candidates seeking public office. We will not accept donations from sources who present a conflict of interest or compromise our independence.
